Apple iPad 3G Data Plan Gets Rogue Tweaking by O2

Earlier O2 has announced its data plans for iPad 3G and the plans were certainly better value than its rival networks. The companyhad tried to lure customers with its promise of 500 MB data for mere £2, in contrast to Orange's 200 MB for £2 plan. However, the company has now made some sneaky changes to its data plan. O2 has been informing its customers that its original data plans were merely "promotional allowance". The original plan had envisaged the transmission of 3GB data for £15 per month. However, from early October, the customers are going to get only 2GB of monthly data for this amount. Thus, the daily quota also has been changed to 200 MB for £2, which is in line with rival Orange's plan.

O2 had not bothered to mention that its earlier announced plan was merely promotional in nature, therefore the new announcement is certainly going to take customers by surprise. O2 has rolling monthly contract with its users, which means that subscribers can dump O2 by giving a month's notice, but that also gives the carrier the freedom to change the conditions every month. So, let's see how this movement pans out for O2! Will it be able to make up for the loss of the customer base through increased revenue?

I think it’s pathetic these companys are trying to sell us a absolute pittance amount of data for that money?!

£15 for 3GB?! And there’s no unlimited plans either not for a reasonable price, My plans are to get a Giffgaff simcard chop it up and put it in an iPad when I get one.. £5 a month for unlimited data yes please.

You don’t get unlimited data for £5, you have to spend £10.
There also seems to be issues with a giffgaff sim in an ipad.

I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
