Nokia has just released a hot new charging station called Plate DT-600. The company is pushing it as an alternative to strewn-around cables and charges and indeed new plate looks cool. Plate can charge up to five devices at a time, and it does it in style. Although it has five cable protruding out of it, but you can hide them when these are not in use. This plate is compatible with all the devices with 2mm charging interface and it also support devices with USB or MicroUSB charging interface. However, if you are planning to buy it for your Apple or BlackBerry, then you might need to get an additional USB charger.
Out of the five cables, one cable is microUSB and for some unknown reasons, Nokia decided to dedicate two cables to 2mm interface. The company simply chose to ignore the fact that most of the mobile manufacturers are moving away from 2mm jacks. The fourth cable is interchangeable and plugs into one of the two USB ports of the plate. Remaining USB port is meant to be utilized for the plugging the cables for the devices not supported by the four cables. The device is eco friendly too, as Nokia points out that you can let the plate remained plugged in even when it is not in use. The shiny new thing won't guzzle any power. Seems like a cool device, but no word on its pricing yet.
