Lately we have been getting many pointers about the imminent arrival of Google TV, aka Apple TV's arch nemesis. Intel CEO had hinted on the launch date sometime this fall, and the news that Logitech Revue box hardware got clearance from the FCC was also encouraging. However, seems like the company has to give some unscheduled finishing touches to the program, since according to the rumors, the launch date has been pushed back 2 weeks. The TV, originally planned to be launched on 3rd October, will now be released on October 17th.
Google is partnering with Best Buy for the launch of its TV, so the release date, closely aligned with the holiday season, seems plausible. The new date is mere two weeks after the suggested shipment date for Apple TV. Google has tied up with some hotshot names such as Sony, Logitech, Dish Network and Intel for its TV service. With this launch, Google is attempting to synthesize TV viewing with web. However, it is not a novel attempt at the marriage of these two phenomenons. Although, the past attempts had largely been a failure. Lets just hope that this time, Google brings something new to the table. In any case, it would be interesting to see a duel between Apple TV and Google TV. I, for the one, would not be complaining. After all, for a consumer, more competition in the market is always a good thing. So what is your pick, Apple, Google or something entirely different?

The mind is the limit. As long as the mind can envision the fact that you can do something, you can do it
