Apple iPhone and iPod Get a Treat: iOS 4.1 Officially Released

After the initial announcement and then a prompt leak, eagerly-awaited iOS4.1 is now finally out in all its official glory. Thenewupdate, packed with tons of new features, is now available for download. Apple's iOS4.1 is compatible with iPhone4, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G and the iPod Touch family. However, for all the naughty kids out there who have jailbroken their devices, a word of caution. iOS4.1 update goodness is available to you only if you are ready to lose unofficial privileges on your phone, i.e. by updating your phone to iOS4.1, you will lose your jailbreak. Seems like, the companies are getting tougher with hackers and jailbreakers.

Although, we are sure, that by now you know everything about all the new iOS4.1 features, but still here is a quick recap. This new version will let you use Apple's Game Center which is loosely a social gaming network. It will allow you to find friends and to play multiplayer games. New iTunes TV will let you rent TV shows and stream them directly to your iPhone. If social gaming is not your forte, then you can go for Ping, the music service with social discovery features and of course, there is High Dynamic Range photography function too. For the YouTube fanatics, new update will let you upload HD videos directly from your iPhone 4. So what are you waiting for? Give your iOS device some TLC and let us know your views about the new update.

  • “Seems like, the companies are getting tougher with hackers and jailbreakers.”

Not really, the jailbreak is on a different partition on the phone, hence when you do an update to the new OS it wipes it clean.

This has always been the case when a new OS or update happens
