Cheapest HTC Desire contract by 3: only £20 per month

The reason you haven't got a smartphone is probably because you are a technophobe who likes to constantly remind people that 'as long as it phones and texts you are happy,' or , you can't afford one. Now if it's the first reason, one day you'll realise the genius of angry birds and barcode scanners, it's just a matter of time. If you however, are the latter then do not despair. Contracts are getting cheaper and at last networks are giving us the latest handsets at affordable prices.

There may be a catch but if you can deal with that, then there's nothing stopping you. The latest bargain is the hugely successful HTC Desire for £20 a month from 3, which is
the cheapest deal now available for the Android 2.1 powered smartphone.

The catch with this is probably that a few months into your contract you'll be carrying an old HTC handset as they have new smartphones on the horizon, Desire HD for example (and whatever else comes out September 15th).
So if you can put up with:

'Oh is that the new one?'
*goes red* 'No, but it's only £20 a month'

Then this a good deal. The handset will cost £40 and your monthly £20 will bring you a reasonable 900 mins or texts, 1GB of mobile browsing and 5000 3 to 3 minutes each month.
If you're interested, it's a clearance deal and so stocks are limited.

It’s great to see that smartphones are becoming accessible to the greater public. It would be a shame for all these great handsets that are coming out to be restricted to bankers, business men and Barack Obama.

So are you tempted by the Desire?

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
