It seems the much anticipated iTunes rival from Google is getting closer as according to 'people familiar with the matter' a pre-Christmas release is to be expected. These people have said that Google's iTunes rival will include a download store (naturally) and a 'digital locker' which will allow users to stream tracks over-the-air to their Android devices.
There is also talk of negotiations between Android's Andy Rubin and some major record labels, which are supposedly desperate to get involved. According to two inside sources, Rubin is attempting to get deals signed and ready to go before the season to be shoppy. It seems the music industry is excited about the concept of a serious iTunes rival, and the rising popularity of Android devices (sales of which are likely to increase a lot around Christmas) and a big name like Google are likely to grab a lot of attention.
Are you content with iTunes, or would you be tempted to try this service when it becomes available? Do you like Google's 'digital locker', or do you want something more from them? Leave your thoughts below.
