Sony has released their first software response to fight back against those who are hacking the console with devices such as the PSJailbreak. The most recent firmware update - v3.42 - supposedly "includes additional security features" which according to users of the various USB-hub exploit, now stops their devices from working. Users can still use their USB device's if they stick with v.3.41, but PS3 has made the new version a mandatory update, which means that if people don't update, they won't have any access to PSN.
Kudos to Sony for attempting to actually fight back with counter-software instead of just throwing law-suits left right and center. There has already been one court case in Australia however, which quickly banned the PSJailbreaks sale's in the country.
The developers of the hack software supposedly reckon they can bypass the new update to keep their devices functional, however at the moment neither the USB-dongles nor the software work. Will this kind of update be constantly necessary? Leave your thoughts below.
