It was reported by some O2 customers who own a HTC Desire that they were prompted to install a new OTA (over the air) update for Android 2.2.
However, since then TechRadar have claimed that nearly every customer that installed the O2 OTA Android 2.2 update reported that their phone froze at the boot stage. So as we thought the update would bring good news to all those HTC Desire owners eagerly waiting for the Android 2.2 update, it would appear that things have not gone according to plan for O2 with these recent problems.
The HTC Desire Android 2.2 Froyo update is expected to bring HD video recording and improved speeds so we’ll keep you updated for more news on whether O2 have been able to rectify the problem…
Are you a HTC Desire O2 customer who has downloaded the recent HTC Desire Android 2.2 update? Did it go smoothly or are you experiencing phone freezing problems? Leave us your comments below…

I had a smooth install and froyo is running perfectly on my desire. The only “issue” I came up against was not having 25mb of memory available.. easy to fix. All in all; perfect.
Mine appeared to freeze, but patience paid off and it was fine. Booted up into another HTC installation screen, and bingo; froyo with no problems. There’s a good chance the people “affected” by freezes are simply impatient.
I’ve only just heard about this from a buddy with a rooted HTC Desire. Still waiting on the update once O2 has fixed the issues. Seems ridiculous that something like this can happen after O2 delay the release for so long for “testing”. What were they doing in order to fail at the first hurdle?
