Next week the Gaj-it team will be reporting live from of the world’s largest consumer electronics show, IFA, in Berlin. With a shed-load of new tech that is going to be unveiled for the first time to the tech press we're planning to scour every inch of the show-floor to get the latest news, pictures and gossip from Berlin - so today we thought we would preview some of the big guns that are already filling the column inches of all the tech websites.
XpanD 3D Glasses
First of all, the world's first XpanD 3D glasses will be unveiled for the first time - they are compatible with both active shutter and passive 3D systems to fulfil all your extra-dimensional viewing needs.
First mentioned back in March, the glasses are perfect for home 3D television sets and 3D laptops, as well being compatible with 3D flick at the cinema.
We will be on hand at the IFA next week getting up and close and personal to test the XpanD Universal 3D glasses
Samsung Galaxy Tab
Next up, Samsung will be officially launching their Samsung Galaxy Tab, which is looking like the best alternative to Apple's iPad, it will incorporate features such as running the Android 2.2, 7-inch AMOLED display, video calling, Swype HD movie playback, 3.2 megapixel back facing camera, VGA front facing cam, GPS navigation, e-reader and along with this the benefit of being small enough to hold with one grip.
Toshiba Smartpad
More Tablet news is expected to come in the form of the Toshiba's Smartpad, which broke cover a couple of days ago and is expected to be unveiled at the show. The first details of Toshiba’s device suggested that the tablet would be a 10-inch Android affair boasting a Nvidia Tegra 2 chip. If the latest leaked images are the real deal, it looks like you’ll be able to add a headphone jack, USB and mini USB ports, a HDMI port and memory card reader to the list of specs, as well as the usual array of Android hardware buttons.
LG 31-inch OLED TV
Elsewhere, LG have confirmed that they will be displaying a 31-inch OLED TV at this year’s IFA conference. It will be the largest that the company have produced so far, and while bigger examples exist from the likes of Samsung and Sony, the LG display could be unique in that it may make it to shops before the year is out.
OLED TVs, with their superior contrast ratios, minimal motion blur and svelte sizes, were hailed as the future for TVs when they first popped up on show floors a couple of years back. But the increasing quality of LCD TVs (not to mention the high pricing of OLEDs) has kept them quite the niche product.
Archos and Viewsonic Tablets
It looks like tablets are going to big business at IFA, and it is expected that we will see options from Archos and Viewsonic too. With Archos saying they have 5 slates to show off next week. And Viewsonic has a few interesting Tablets on offer with one reportedly able to dual boot Android and Windows.
We will be Facebooking and Twittering from the show floor, so do yourself a favour and keep and eye on them for the latest news from the IFA 2010. And of course there will be some great live coverage on Gaj-it too.
