Samsung announces World’s biggest 3D LED TV

Samsung US has announced a trio of new 3D TVs. The bad boy of the group is the LED 'C8000 Series'which is the world's largest 3D-capable set. It has a mammoth 65-inch screen with Precision Dimming technology, 240Hz refresh rate technology, dynamic 8,000,000:1 contrast ratio and WiFi capabilities.

Of course the screen is not the only thing that's big. Unsurprisingly the cost of one of Samsung's record-breaking televisions is $6000 (£3850) and will be available for lottery winners later this month.

The other two TV's in the series are a little more realistic. The 3D ready Plasma 680 Series, featuring HD 1080p resolution, 600Hz Subfield Motion, and comes in at $1600 (£1025) for a 50 inch and $2300 (£1474) for a 58 inch.

At the lower end of the series is the Plasma 490 at just over $1000 (£650)

Samsung claims that it holds 80 per cent of the 3D TV marketshare and believes that by 2011, 3D TVs will make up 70 per cent of the 40-inch and larger TV category.

Well they must be making a tonne of money if they can afford to pop out 65-inch 3D LEDs. If only I had a spare £4,000.
