Rumors mills are working again. Microsoft is doling out invitations via Connect to the users for testing its "Xbox LIVE and Kinect Beta Program'. If the screen captures of the said invitations are genuine, then Microsoft is going all generous to provide the participants with "a unique opportunity" to test the yet-to-be released software. However, the invitation itself is sweet and short and therefore lacks any material information.
Although many ex-Xbox live users claim to have received the invitation, the company itself has refused to confirm or deny the rumors. Though, this is not the first time Microsoft would have used Connect for this purpose. Earlier, it had used the program to spread the word about NXE. The testing gear will come with some limitations, though. Apparently, beta testers will not be able to tweak the "audio settings" and thus they won't be able to correspond to anyone not using the beta.
The program is expected to be officially launched on November 4th, so it seems natural that the company would want to get some feedback before going public. The beta kit is expected to worth somewhere in the vicinity of $100-$150, which makes it a very generous offer. Well, I would just sit and wait for my invitation to arrive. In the meantime, let us know if you get your passport to pure gaming heaven.
