When well this whole antenna affair die down? Being an opportune chance to damage Apple's reputation, those conspiracy theorists out there were bound to say that Apple knew about it all along and went along with its release anyway. Then there was the leaked 'job advert' asking for antenna engineers a day before the iPhone's release, then Apple said all the smartphones have the same problem and now there's rumours Apple have known about the problem for a whopping two years.
Apparently Apple filed a bug on the iPhone 4 antenna two whole years ago. Apple employee Ruben Caballero was the guy who focused on antenna design at the company and he raised the issue of signal loss last year. But now infamous tech blogger John Gruber has claimed they knew about problems even before then and quote, "there was plenty of time to find a solution to the problem.”
On top of this is 'news' is the 'release' of Mike Papermaster, head of iPhones, who according to the Wall Street Journal: "had lost the confidence of Mr. Jobs months ago and hasn’t been part of the decision-making process for some time."
Papermaster who had transferred to Apple from IBM just 15 months ago, was not involved in the Bumper Case press conference and has been in the background for a while now. There is no official reason for his departure however there are claims that he and Steve Jobs did not 'work together effectively' and there is obviously the fact that the product he was in charge of had a faulty antenna. Well whatever the reason is, he will be replaced by Bob Mansfield.
It seems all is not well in the Apple camp at the moment
