While looking into buying myself a Kindle I came across a post on Hot Deals UK advertising free book downloads from the Amazon Kindle Store. Assuming they’d be the usual round of obscure texts and short stories, I nevertheless put my Gaj-It hat on and went a gander. And yes, they were mainly essays on Dutch merchants and copies of what appear to be very very VERY old magazines. But in amongst the staggering amount of pages of freebies (I got to page 50 and gave up looking) there were some proper gems which are actually on my to read list.
Now, don’t get too excited – unfortunately Harry Potter and the Twilight Quadrilogy are still full price. But if you’re keen on classics then take a wander over to the following links (organised by order of how I found them)-
Edgar Allen Poe’s The Raven
The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes
Don’t worry if you don’t have a Kindle either. You can take advantage of these freebies to by downloading a variety of free readers from Amazon for the PC, iPod Touch, iPhone, iPad or Android phone.
Click the link below to access the Amazon Kindle Store, where you can dig through the rest of the freebies yourself. If you find any gems (here or anywhere else) be sure to let us know in the comments!
