Last week we reported that Apple were investigating the performance issues of the iOS 4 on the iPhone 3G as many users complained that their phone had slowed down since the iOS 4 upgrade. Well, it would appear that tech blog, Neowin have come up with a quick fix to bide Apple some time before they come up with a more permanent fix.
The problem can be solved by turning off the spotlight search options which maybe the cause of the iPhone 3G sluggish performance issues. If you have an iPhone 3G then all you need to do is go to Settings->General->Home Button->Spotlight Search.
Although this maybe a temporary fix, it is hoped that this might be enough until Apple finds out the root cause of the issue and sorts it.
Has anyone given the temporary fix a try? Has it helped the performance of your iPhone 3G? Leave us your comments below…

Hi. Since upgrading my iphone to iOS 4 my iphone is so slow its rediculous.
I use my calendar constantly & its not as fast as it was. It used to go straight to the todays date but now i get a random date appear, then a blank page, then todays date. Its so annoying.
Texting is the same, blank page, then the message appears.
Is there any way i can uninstall ios4 until the problem is solved?
Thanks for listening, Debi
Lifehacker has a good downgrade

This DOES NOT fix the problem at all, utter rubbish.
This made my iPhone 3g a little bit snappier. At least for now. Thanks.
I had upgraded my iPhone 3G to iOS 4.0.1 and experienced slow/poor performance and my camera roll stopped working.
I just completed a full RESTORE to a “New” device (using iTunes). Make sure you have a back-up of your music, contacts, vids, apps, etc.
The only think I needed to do of course was re-enter all my logins and email accounts but all of that took about 20 mins! It took all night to restore all my music but it was totally worth it.
My 3G is running like a brand NEW phone on iOS 4.0.1 – SUPER FAST and no problems now!!
