As we recently reported, Apple had announced a delay in the white version of the iPhone. There were rumours that the delay was due to issues 'painting the screen' and many people expected that Apple would solve the problem relatively quickly and that the white handset would be ready for the international iPhone 4 release. But whatever the problem with the white version is, Apple are in no rush to solve it and now they have announced a further delay.
The new due date for the device is now set at 'later this year' according to an Apple statement: "White models of Apple's new iPhone 4 have continued to be more challenging to manufacture than we originally expected, and as a result they will not be available until later this year. The availability of the more popular iPhone 4 black models is not affected."
With speculation that Apple were expecting the antenna problems which have surrounded the iPhone since its release, it's no surprise that the company is unwilling to release any new products until they are in 100% working order. It's frustrating for those who were expecting the white handset sooner but you have to admire Apple's honesty and hope that the release will be sooner rather than later.
On the other hand black handsets are still available and if bought between now and September 30th come with a free bumper case as part of the deal. They are planned to be released Worldwide 30th July.
