You will all know by now about the antenna/reception issues which have been causing iPhone 4 customers problems since the release of the Apple smartphone. Well, it would appear that the solution to the problem by Apple is either offering customers with a free bumper case or blaming it on someone else. When we mean someone else, we mean that Apple have suggested that the antenna issue is an problem industry wide and not specific to just them.
Apple dedicated a page comparing all the smartphones which included the Blackberry Bold 9700, HTC Droid Eris, Nokia N97 Mini and Samsung Omnia, with a video for each explaining how the dreaded antenna ‘ grip of death’ was apparent in all the smartphones.
However, RIM were quick to respond to Apple’s claims and suggested that they don’t suffer from the same issues as the iPhone. Now, it’s Samsung to hit back at Apple’s claims by stating “Reception problems have not happened so far on Omnia II”. They go on to say “The antenna is located at the bottom of the Omnia 2 phone, while iPhone’s antenna is on the lower left side of the device. Our design keeps the distance between a hand and an antenna. We have fully conducted field tests before the roll-out of smartphones. Reception problems have not happened so far, and there is no room for such problems to happen in the future”.
Some people have suggested that Apple are using these claims to take the pressure away from their own iPhone antenna issues and as two manufacturers have already responded by disregarding the claims, it does make you wonder whether there is any truth in the matter with Apple.
What do you think? Have you experienced antenna/reception problems from the smartphones highlighted on Apple’s antenna page? Is there truth to Apple claims? Leave us a comment and let us know…

Of course the other manufacturers are going to disregard the claims, otherwise they are admitting fault to!
GadgetGirl – did you watch the whole iPhone “antennagate” meeting?
I think you should.
“Some people have suggested that Apple are using these claims to take the pressure away from their own iPhone antenna issues”.
NO! that should read….
“Apple haters and companies who are competing against Apple have suggested that Apple are using these claims to take the pressure away from their own iPhone antenna issues”.
As said above, of course the other companies are going to say that this problem doesn’t affect their phones but as Steve Jobs said in the video (if you watch it) you can see plenty of videos on YouTube showing the same thing happening on other phones. Funny how these cases don’t make the blogs. People like to see success come crashing to the ground, it’s human nature.
C’mon, this bandwagon has passed now. Can you stop calling it back. The problem has been resolved, surely you can find something else to dig Apple out about.
This happens on almost any mobile phone. Try it out for yourself. I have 2 samsung phones in my house, a pixon and jet, they both suffer if you grip them.
This iPhone 4 thing has been blown totally out of proportion. The iPhone 4 was the first apple product I have bought but I love the phone, it’s a great product. I recently went abroad and my phone managed to get signal where no one else could get it so I actually think the 4’s signal is better!
