BBC Website Revamped: New-Look News and Social Integration

If you have been poking around the BBC website today you’ll have probably noticed a host of new look pages have launched, and each now has fully integrated social aspects allowing users to share stories.

Head over to News page and you’ll notice that it has been given HTLM lick of paint, the top stories are now much more prominent, with a crafty little widget on the left to handle all audio and video. Whilst recommended stories now sit at the bottom and navigation controls are handled in a bar at the top.

The new social features which were touted in early in July have been implemented. Each story can now be sent to all your social networks – with the usual liking and linking for Facebook and Twitter respectively.

“We have focused on design and navigation, looking to see how we can make all the existing content we produce each day easier for you to find, use and share,” said BBC News editor Steve Hermann in his blog last week.

So what do you think of the revamp ? Money well spent ? After all it’s our BBC and our license fee. Let us know below…

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
