Windows Slate Computers Expected Release Date for End of 2010 Says Ballmer

Steven Ballmer, Microsoft's CEO, told his audience at the opening keynote at the Worldwide Partner Conference that we should expect a flurry of Windows 7 slate computers before the end of the year.

Ballmer teased the audience by saying, "We know you really want to know what's coming," and then went on to announce that Asus, Dell, Samsung, Toshiba and Sony would be in the line up to be part of the slate computers.

However, I can’t help wondering whether Windows maybe leaving this a little to late. Apple have already gained a foothold in the market with the release of their Apple iPads so is there room left for the Windows slate computers? Let’s hope for Windows sake consumers can move away from the Apple hype and frenzy and to be lured into buying the Windows slate computer.

Would you buy a Windows slate or tablet device or do you think the iPad has saturated the market? Leave us a comment and let us know what you think…

  • This is not late, Apple won’t do flash and tbh I want the choice, so if this device is anything like some of the hp touch screens and they make it easy to buy and read books then, I’ll be buying one for sure. No doubt they will be reasonably priced too.

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
