With even more bad news coming out of the financial world this week, the quest for bargain gadgetry has really hotted up. Enter the EasyPC E760 laptop from Menq which retails in the US for $89, meaning it can be yours for less than £50.
For this smidgen of an outlay, you do get what you pay for, and spec-wise the EasyPC E760 is in a league of its own… at the bottom end of the scale. In saying that, what it does have is a Samsung Arm processor, a 7"³ screen and it runs Windows CE.
The EasyPC E760 also features a customised browser, word processing, Skype and media player. Pretty basic stuff, but still not a bad option for someone’s first laptop, or even as a backup computer to stop the family squabbling over whose assignment is due in first, therefore giving them more PC rights.
If you plan to use this to store your plethora of photos from your digital camera however- don’t, as the screen only features 480×272 pixels.
These laptops don’t seem to be available in the UK yet, but if you’ve got a trip planned to the US any time soon, it may well be worth saving some room in your luggage to pick one of these up.
