You know the situation- You’re at the cinema or in a meeting and your bank decides now is the time to send you an email or your long lost friend decides to phone for a chat, your hilarious new ring tone goes off at full volume and you are left red-faced and possibly in a lot of trouble.
Then there’s the other side of the coin- you remember to turn your phone onto silent but you forget to turn it back to the normal setting and miss a bunch of important calls. We try and remember to pop our phones on vibrate at time like these, but sometimes we forget and this is when a great new android app comes into play.
The PhoneWeaver for Android app allows you to create an infinite amount of profiles and sync them to stuff like, your calender, your location and the phone’s dock. For example, if you calender says you’re at a meeting, the app will automatically switch your phone to silent and when the calender says you are finished, it will turn your phone back to its standard profile.
As well as controlling vibrant and ring, the app can provide for more creative triggers. For example, you can use the app to automatically turn on GPS when your phone is connected to a car dock.
Check out the video below of explaining the app. It shows the fictional character Bill getting into trouble when his phone rings during a meeting, says that ‘this is a smartphone surely there must be a smarter way to do this’ and I’ve got to agree with Bill, the powerful smartphone handsets which are available seem to lack smart apps like this. The majority of apps seem to be simple RSS feeds or games.
It’s great to not only to see a useful app but an app on Android, who have so far struggled to draw developers away from Apple. If you have a phone which runs on android then head over to Talk Android forums where they are running a competition in which you could download a free copy of the PhoneWeaver app.
