Microsoft executives have let it slip that the new Windows Phone will be out in October, after it was casually announced at the Cannes Lions advertising conference.
The conference was showing off the advertising capabilities of the upcoming smartphone platform. And Microsoft VP for Marketing Mich Mathews introduced someone on stage and said “I’m gonna ask rock star Kostas… to come on. And Kostas has brought with him Windows Phone 7, which we launch this October.”
The last we heard of a release date was last week and was pencilled in for “holiday 2010,” so this would narrow that release date by quite a bit.
