Hitachi have announced the launch of their Travelstar Z5K320 today, a new line of 2.5 inch mobile hard drives that are just 7mm thick.
The HDD will be available in the range of capacities which include 160GB, 250GB and 320GB and have revealed that the new HDD are the slimmest, lightest and fastest in the storage market. Just get things into perspective the top model spins at 7,200 rpm and offers 16MB f cache.
The new drives are fully compatible with existing netbooks and laptops but are aimed more specifically at a new generation of portable devices.
So when is the release date for these super slim HDD? Mass production is expected this summer however Hitachi is already shipping samples as we speak.
