After rumours and speculations over recent months regarding an iPhone 4G to be released this summer, it has been reported by a trusted source that Apple is actually currently "developing a new iPhone to debut this summer".
According to the guys over at WSJ, not only have they said Apple have confirmed a release date for the next iPhone but they are also "working on another model for the US mobile phone operator Verizon Wireless".
However soon after, more news broke which suggested that the next generation iPhone would be announced on Tuesday June 22nd and would be called the iPhone HD. Now, we have already reported the likelihood of that name and we actually hoping that the phone would be called the iPhone 4G (a follow on pattern for the current iPhones).
As these details have still not been confirmed yet and I am still reserving judgement until Apple give us an official announcement, however with WJS being a trusted source, I think it is safe to say that the next generation iPhone could be released in the summer.
