Asus Scented Laptops: Forget eau de plastic

Is it just me or is the laptop market going the way of the crisp industry? Variance is good, but I’m not going to always be in the mood for “salmon and marmite” flavour. Similarly, Asus have released a range of laptops not focused on processor speed, portable size, or screen resolution, these laptops come in different scents. Ooh la la.

The new F6V laptops comes in a range of four different perfumes: floral, grass, ocean and cologne. Forget spending money on candles or home scent sprays, all you need to do now is open your laptop up and instantly be transported to the seaside. Who said convergent technology was a bad thing?

Now the next time you’ve got the airplane seat right next to the bathrooms, you can fear the gag reflex no more every time someone thoughtfully keeps the door open to have a 10 minute conversation with the last occupant (yes, this breaks many societal rules but for some reason it still happens). Just bring your laptop up to your nose and start inhaling the sweet scent of petunias. While you’re doing this, make sure to give the people in the bathroom door a look to tell them that they’re weird.

Spec-wise, the F6V is powered by Core 2 Duo processors, with 320GB HDD, 4GB of memory and has a 13.3in screen. There’s also an ATI HD 3470 graphics card, HDMI port and a 1.3MP webcam. Finally there is a fingerprint authentication reader in case someone gets a bit too attached to that sexy cologne smell emanating from your rucksack.

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
