There has been a lot of talk recently about when certain phones will get the Android 2.1 update. However, news has come in from Verizon which has confirmed that the Motorola Droid will be getting an official update of Android 2.1, starting tomorrow.
So what can you expect from the update? It will include the new 3D Gallery app, voice-to-text, news and weather widgets, pinch-to-zoom support, improved pattern locks and live wallpapers.
This has certainly comes as very good news especially as according to new data published by Flurry, Droid is the top selling phone with 1.05 million units sold. Second place was the iPhone at 1 million units sold and the most disappointing was Google's very own phone the Nexus One, coming in at number 3 with 135,000 sold.
As discussed earlier, the update will be staged and rolled out on Thursday and recent information available indicates that it will begin at 9AM PDT/11AM CDT/12PM EST in waves of 250,000 devices until completion.
If you're a Droid owner and receive the update in the next few days, then leave us comment and let us know what you think…

Very interesting I had no idea the Droid was more popular than the iphone. Sounds like some good updates coming, although many seem like iphone features!
Apple bascially have some of the best marketing in the world which is why they seem like they are everywhere. I love Apple phones but they are not perfect just look at all the problems with the iphone 4
