iPad Battery Dead? Don’t Worry! Apple Will Send You a Replacement iPad for $99!

Apple iPad Battery ReplacementPre-orders for the iPads having been coming in thick and fast, with already an estimated 120,000 sold in the first day of pre ordering. Upon receiving their shiny new iPad in the next few weeks, it has come to light that this may not be the only set of good news iPad owners will be receiving.  Apple have just announced that they will be giving iPad owners who need to replace their battery, a completely new iPad.

The change in warranty policy is different to the iPhone warranty. Instead of Apple opening your iPad, replacing your diminishing iPad battery and then sending it back to you (similar to what they do on the iPhone’s), they will simply replace the whole iPad for you without a flutter of the eyelid.

On face value, this sounds like great news especially as you'll be getting a new iPad in approximately one week's time, however there must be a catch? Well we were right in asking, as just before you thought you would be getting the replacement iPad free of charge, you will still need to pay the service charge of $99 before it is shipped out to you. Also, when we mean 'new', Apple have suggested that the replacement iPad could potentially be a 'refurbished' one, which definitely isn’t new in our eyes. Lastly, you'll be waving goodbye to every piece of hard earned personal data on the device that you send in…unless of course you have backed it up before hand!

What do you think? Do you think the iPad battery replacement policy is better than the iPhone's policy? Leave us a comment and let us know what you think?
