Lady Gaga helps bring in 25% of Vevo's Traffic

Lady Gaga is a household name and I pretty sure most of us will have one or if not many of Lady Gaga's music and videos downloads on our MP3 players, so it is unsurprising to hear that 25% of visitors to Vevo, the new video music site owned by three of the largest record companies – Universal Music, Sony Music Entertainment, and EMI Music, have been downloading Lady Gaga's music.

Executive vice president of digital for Interscope/Geffen, a music label owned by Universal Music Group, Ted Mico openly revealed yesterday at the Digital Music East conference that Lady Gaga’s videos account for a quarter of Vevo’s traffic.

So could there be a possible explanation to this?  Well CNET has revealed that 'each time someone searches for a Lady Gaga clip on YouTube they are sent to a Vevo Web page' so this could definitely have some part to play for Lady Gaga's popularity on Vevo, however that aside it surely shows that the ongoing popularity between Lady Gaga and Vevo is set to continue.

  • I know a lot of people critcisze Lady GaGa, but you have to hand it to her. She’s done a great job of staying in the public eye.

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
