Sometimes you might be forgiven for thinking that the only mobile phones in existence are the iPhone, the Nokia N900, HTC phones with Windows Mobile 6.5 and anything running Android. But they aren’t. Some people just want easy to use 3G phones with a nice camera and a splash of social networking. Thankfully, Nokia have released the details of two new 3G phones which will appear in early 2010.
Nokia 6700 slide: This slider phone has a 5 megapixel camera with auto focus, dual LED flash and Carl Zeiss optics. It has a 2.2 inch QVGA display (320 x 240 pixels) with up to 16.7 million colours, Bluetooth 2.1 and a microSD expansion slot. Your photos can be edited on the phone and uploaded to the web directly via 3G. It can also shoot video in MPEG-4 VGA at up to 15 fps. Of course it also comes with a MP3 player (and an FM radio) and can provide up to 29 hours of continue music playback. The 6700 slide is available in a choice of six colours – pink, red, petrol blue, aluminium, lime and purple.
Nokia 7230: The 7230 is the cheaper of the two new phones and so comes with a smaller 3.2 megapixel camera. Like the 6700 slide it is a 3G phone and you can upload your photos to Ovi Share, Flickr, Facebook etc. This phone comes with a 2 GB memory card included. The display is slightly larger at 2.4 inch (320 x 240) but with only 262,000 colours. This model doesn’t have an MP3 player but you can have MP3 ringtones.
These phones are expected to become available in the first quarter of 2010, and the retail prices (before taxes and subsidies) are anticipated to be £145 for the Nokia 6700 slide, and £90 for the Nokia 7230.
