The idea of bundling software together online for a reduced price has become quite popular over the last few year and one of the main players is the people over at MacHeist. Over the past 3 years MacHeist has distributed over 4 million discounted software licenses to hundreds of thousands of Mac users around the world. Now they have gone one better. For the next 6 days MacHeist are offering 6 Apple Mac application, worth over £90, for FREE.
The six applications included are:
- ShoveBox – Easily capture important bits of information!
- WriteRoom – Distraction-free writing.
- Twitterrific – "What are you doing?"
- TinyGrab – Splendidly simple screenshot sharing!
- Hordes of Orcs – "We've got to do something about these orcs!"
- Mariner Write – The easiest to use Mac word processor
The only wrinkle seems to be that they needs to be a minimum of 500,000 participants before the applications are “unlocked” and the serial numbers sent out. There is just a tiny graphic on the side of the web site which reads “Unlocked for everyone when we reach 500,000 participants!”
The main text doesn’t say anything about this, nor does the presentation video. Naturally I have signed up for the bundle and at the moment by “receipt” says “Sorry about the wait, but it’ll be a little while longer before we can finish generating your serials – why not grab a cup of joe for the time being?”
So if you have a Mac and you want these apps (including Twitterrific which is a deal clincher for me) for free, then sign up and tell your friends all about it. As they say on the site, “Download it. Enjoy it. And tell your friends about it, because it'll be gone in under a week, never to return again. Grab it now!”

Only one of the apps, Mariner Write, depends on them getting 500,000 downloads. Serial numbers for the others are released anyway, though there can be a delay. It took about an hour before the first batch of my serial numbers appeared on the receipt page (try reloading).
Just as an update… The serial numbers have now been released and the only application waiting to be unlocked is Mariner Write. Once the 500,000 participants goal has been reached the license will be released!
