You may have noticed a bit of a revamp if you’ve logged on to Twitter lately. The site has released its new Twitter Lists feature to more users, in an attempt to organise your chaotic micro-blogging world.
Twitter Lists lets you group your plethora of followers into… well lists, so you can see what’s going on in the world of a certain group of people at the one time.
Lists can be either private or public, so others can view or subscribe to your list without having to subscribe to individual users.
This makes lists a sort of try-before-you-subscribe scheme, which was a bit lacking in the ye olde Follow Friday ways of growing your Twitter following.
If you’re keen to try out a bit of spring cleaning and create a list, the steps are pretty easy. All you need to do is click on the “new lists” link in the navigation bar on your right.
You’ll then get a pop-up screen called (strangely enough) “create a new list”. There you can be as quirky or straightforward as you like in naming your list. You can also choose whether your list will be available for public or private viewing.
Next you’ll be taken to a page where you can add people to your list. You can search by username, first or last name, brand or business, which makes it easy to create a list with a theme rather than always having to remember someone’s name specifically.
You’ll see a list of people who Twitter think fit the bill and you can go nuts with adding them to your list by dropping down the “manage lists” button.
To start you off, why not follow a certain list of gadget bloggers?
