The deadline for entries to the UK government backed iawards is approaching rapidly. Aiming to recognise and celebrate the best British achievements in science, innovation and technology, the iawards are backed by Science and Innovation Minister Lord Drayson and leading entrepreneur James Caan. The deadline for entries for the awards is 16th September 2009.
As part of the promotion of these awards there will be a live webchat with leading entrepreneur and Dragons’ Den star James Caan today (Thursday 27 August) at 1.30pm.
With categories like the “Next Big Thing” and the “Consumer Product” we here at Gaj-IT.com are keen to see what the best of British can produce.
The iawards will shine a light on new technologies and innovations, showing how they can translate into the innovative products and services that improve our daily lives. It is also hoped that they will encourage commercial interest, as well as helping to bridge the gap between business and the general public.
There are 13 categories including, as previously mentioned, the “Next Big Thing” and the “Consumer Product”. Other categories include “Best Technology Start-Up” and “Digital Communication” which will recognise innovations in any area which supports society in terms of communications and how the UK economy is driven by pace of change.
Each entry must also demonstrate that its innovation can address one of the following challenges:
1. Healthcare and our ageing population.
2. Global competition and national growth.
3. Improving public services through technology.
4. Global security – ranging from our national duty to tackle global poverty to the threat of international terrorism.
5. Conserving finite natural resources in the face of a growing population.
The results will be announced and winners will be presented with their iawards at a Gala dinner in central London on the 16 November 2009.
