Nokia Announces 5230 Touchscreen Phone

Looks like fashion is in at the moment. We recently looked at Sony Ericsson’s take on what the beautiful people want, and now Nokia has also decided black is so 2008 with it colourful options on the new 5230.

While this handset looks awfully pretty, it also packs a punch feature-wise. The music player on the 5230 boasts 33 hours of playback time and a standard 3.5mm headphone jack so you can use a good set of headphones to listen to Black Eyed Peas, or your mum.

Nokia’s unlimited Comes With Music service is also on offer with this phone, though only in selected countries and there’s no word on whether the UK is on the guest list.

To help you around town, there’s also A-GPS navigation with Ovi Maps that includes aerial images, 3D landmarks for over 200 cities and terrain map views for both pedestrian and drive navigation.

The phone’s memory can be expanded up to 16GB via a microSD card which is great but perhaps not necessary with the camera that Nokia have whacked onto this handset. It’s a measly 2 megapixels so will be good for artistic, grainy shots of whatever it is that you’re looking to take a picture of.

The 5230 comes with a 3.2-inch widescreen touch display with full-screen QWERTY keyboard. It also features handwriting recognition, which is a bit gimmicky, but still something to show your mates at the pub.

Overall though, we like the colour range, the music playback, and the GPS and with a starting price of 149 Euros, you are getting some good features for a price that won’t break the bank.

I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
