More rumours are emerging that the Apple iPhone 3G exclusive deal with O2 is about to end as Mobile-Ent claim they have seen documents stating the contract expires on October 9th. Although O2 will be able to sell the iPhone till 2012 the exclusive arrangement signed late 2007 was only for two years, allowing other network providers to potentially start stocking the 3G phone later this year. Sources have also said that O2 will remain the exclusive provider of the 3G S whose exclusivity with O2 was also being questioned earlier in the week.
We’ve already spoken of T-Mobile selling the iPhone to high paying UK customers. However Crave mentions its hearing from one of its readers that Orange Shop staff have been told they’ll be stocking it shortly too. However Crave don’t seem to be too confident about their source.
Its still early days and I’m sure we’ll know fairly soon whether other networks will be supplying the iPhone 3G.
