Nintendo’s Dr Kawashima Brain Training Breaks UK Sales Record

Looks like we’re all a little concerned of getting soft between the ears. Industry trade body ELPSA, has released latest figures for video games sales, with Dr Kawashima’s Brain Training for the Nintendo DS taking kudos for the best selling game ever in the UK.braintraining1blue

Dr. Kawashima has sold over three million units reach this record, meaning if you aren’t training your brain, chances are all your friends are and they’re going to ace you at the next pub trivia night.

ELPSA’s research also show that gaming itself is really taking off in the UK with 24 million home and portable game consoles in current use, which is ‘around the same number as there are UK households’.

The most popular selling games in 2009 so far all revolve around the magic wand of the Nintendo Wii. The Wii Fit, Wii Play and Mario Kart Wii currently top the UK charts.

Seeing what sells now shows that the gaming demographic has changed from the black t-shirt wearing, 18 year old Dungeons and Dragons master of the cyber-lounge.

Now people are turning to games to better their health and knowledge which, on paper, sounds a bit boring. But Nintendo have obviously cracked the market with this insight.

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
