The World’s first 12MP Camera Phone!

Imagine one of them sounds you hear when something important happens, like a bell, and imagine you are hearing it now because the BIG news of today comes courtesy of Samsung, where they have revealed that their Pixon 12 M8910 is to be the first phone on the the planet to have a 12MP camera, and will be released across Europe at the end of June.

The Samsung Pixon 12 M8910 then will just pip Sony Ericsson to the mark, as their Satio/ Idou will not be released before the end of June.samsung-pixon-12jpg

So, the first talking point about the phone is the ever-important camera, the 12MP autofocus dazzler comes equipped with Xenon and power LED flash, a 28mm wide-angle lens, touch-focus and “smart auto”. Unwiredview also report that  the camera can also record 720 x 480 pixel videos at 30 frames per second.

Another big bonus, thanks to the phone's HSPA and the built-in Wi-Fi, you can instantly and easily upload all your photos and videos to social networking sites such as Facebook, MySpace and Friendster all at the touch of  a button. Other features of the phone include:

  • 3.1 AMOLED touchscreen display
  • GPS
  • Bluetooth
  • FM radio
  • Quad-band GSM/EDGE connectivity

Akihabara News say that the Samsung Pixon 12 M8910 will also be available in markets outside Europe, but only starting August. The phone's price was not announced on any front.

I’m not sure whether this is set to be Samsung’s top of the range phone or whether it is just supposed to stand along with others such as their new Tocco Ultra, but it certainly packs a punch and I will be sure to take a closer look at it when it comes out!

  • after the G800 fiasco with the NOT synchronized flash, I for one will not be touching it!

  • True, but maybe Samsung have nailed it this time? We’ll have to wait and see!

  • Trouble is, if there is something wrong, all they will do is say “tough, that’s life” to the people that have forked out for another maybe naff phone then bring out more super dooper phones without correcting any firmware as on the G800.
I still think I’ll shop elseware in future!

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
