Worm aimed at overzealous Twitterers

Attention all Twitterers!! If you’re of the impatient ilk and need more and more people following your every move on Twitter then you may be interested that a new scam is doing the tweeting rounds.twitter_logo1

Users of the social networking website may come across tweets that promise to massively increase the number of followers for people that log into their accounts via ‘twittercut.com.’

The temptation of more than a 1000 new followers in a single day is bound to tempt at least a few people, and users that did fall for the scam found that the tweet quickly announced itself to everyone in the users contact list.

Worse than this though, during the log-in process, twittercut nabs your sensitive credentials for its own devious ends.

According to reports on Pocket-Lint.com the worm is currently most prevalent in the US, Canada and Sweden.

We advise that Gaj-It readers don’t try taking this particular shortcut to twitter fame, and particularly that you don’t enter your details anywhere near twittercut.com.

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
