Digg Replaces Shouts with Sharing

Your mother has always told you that it’s rude to shout, and now you won’t even get the rebellious chance to do it online as Digg have opted to change its “shout” option to a “share” one. We’ll be one big happy online family!digg-m-l

According to the Digg Townhall this new share function will “streamline your ability to share on Facebook and Twitter.”

In a nutshell, the “share” feature will  give you the chance to share your favourite Digg links via email, Twitter or on Facebook all at the click of a button.

This more socially acceptable form of spreading the word on your fascinating link will likely take place tomorrow.

Digg’s shout feature has been problematic from the start, as it has proved a useful tool for spammers, who spam their stories to a large mass of people in an attempt to make the coveted front page of Digg.

However, it’s not clear how Digg’s new share function will stop this problem.

Do you think anything fundamental will change as Digg quitens its shouts? Let us know in the comments below.

  • Is there any actual change in the way it works or is it literally just a change of name?

Spammers won’t be stopped by the ‘Find and Replace’ function I’m afraid

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
