Until now, Firefox has been the only browser with thousands of extensions built by developers across the globe, allowing for greater interactivity and a better web-browsing experience.
The latest developer release of Google’s new browser, Chrome, however, come with vastly improved APIs and developer tools that allow keen developers to create applications attached to the newly-released browser.
Currently, the two latest APIs allow for adding a Google mail inbox counter to the browers, and easier subscription to RSS feeds. There is no doubt, however, that many more add-ons will soon follow.
Unfortunately, all that glitters is not gold and you will have to make a few changes before you can use the add-ons. First of all you must ensure you’re switched to Google’s developer channel. To do this you’ll need to download Chrome’s Channel Changer and switch channel to “developer”.
Secondly, you’ll have to launch Chrome from the Command line, making sure to add the –enable-extensions flag to the end of the application flag.
Since Google Chrome launched, developers worldwide have been creating free ware add-ons. Mychromeaddons.com are currently offering three pages of add-ons. At the moment, most of them are custom themes, however, programs such as ad-blockers and key shortcuts that most of us take for advantage in other browsers, can also be downloaded.
Unfortunately for us humble Mac users, Google still hasn’t released a version of Chrome for us. There are reports, however, that early versions released have been greatly improved. Let’s hope we’ll have our browser soon.
For Mac lovers who also own a PC, all is not lost. Download this little add-on to make yourself feel right at home.

Mac user here…Want to try it, but not switching until there’s industrial strength ad-block plug-ins
This is the latest Google browser developer release of Google’s new browser, Chrome, however, come with vastly improved APIs and developer tools that allow keen developers to create applications attached to the newly-released browser.it is fast and reliable
I think Chrome is great, its super fast and shows more of the web page. However Firefox is still my main browser due to the developer plug-ins it has. However once Chrome gets these I can see no reason to use Firefox anymore.
Ohh well Firefox had a good run.
Chrome is awesome… I can’t wait for a good mac version.
Even my IE loving girlfriend has switched and as she represents the “average browser” group I hope IE will finally die…. But I know I am just dreaming :)
I don’t like chrome for it can’t enlarge text of websites, I have to use Mother’s Magnifier to do it.
