A report has just been published online revealing, surprise, surprise, that Britain spends more time on the social networking site Facebook, than any other page.
The findings come from web analyst company Nielsen Online and we’re published in an article on WebUser.
According to the figures, the sum total of our combined Facebook browsing accounts for 13% of all internet activity in Britain - a massive jump from the 7% that it accounted for last year.
Somewhat surprisingly to us the Windows Live site sneeked into second place position ahead of competitors such as YouTube, MySpace, BBC and Apple.
These top 2 positions alone account for nearly one minute in every five that we spend online, and the numbers show that as a nation we spent a smidgen over 22 hours each online during last month.
What the figures also reveal is that the power of the top 10 companies is strengthening, with the traffic they’ve commanded over the last year accounting for more of the total internet browsing time than ever before.
These figures don’t come as a huge surprise in light of Facebook’s own stats reporting that at least 100 million of the more than 200 million active users log on once a day.
Facebook; love it or hate it, it looks like it’s here to stay.

I think you’re absolutely right. Facebook is a great tool to keep in touch with old and new friends so I am not surprised that it is one of the most sought after sites at the moment. The fact that sites like these can be accessed and browsed from your mobile phones makes it even more popular.
