Sega Toys Homestar Pro: A Personal Planetarium

If you quite like star-gazing but unfortunately live in a city with lights that outshine the dawning of the age of Aquarius, then this gadget may be of interest.homestarpro_lg

The Sega Toys Homestar Pro is your very own planetarium and will project the night sky onto your ceiling to make for the best mood lighting possible.

This version of the Homestar series has triple the original luminosity thanks to a professional-grade lens and brighter LED light. The result of these upgrades is a clear projection with reduced any blurring on the stars’ edges.

This gadget can also give shooting star effects and comes with an adjustable stand for projecting at multiple angles, so you can end up being quite arty with your constellations.

The Homestar Pro includes 10,000 stars in its repertoire, and will automatically rotate every 12 minutes, kind of like the earth does.

The design of the unit itself is quite sleek and would do aesthetic justice to any coffee table. It comes in both black and silver.

As this gadget is aimed at the Japanese market, it only shows stars as seen in Japan, which may be a hindrance for the hardcore constellation followers out there, but would still make for some amazing effects at your next party.

Priced at around £240, it’s not cheap, but you get quite a unique toy for your money.

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
