iMuffs: wireless iPod headphones. Get caught up in the beat- not your headphones

One of the coolest and most stylish gadgets out there is undoubtedly the iPod with it's sleek surface, touch interface and"¦ that really geeky white chord that connects to earphones so you can actually listen to it. The wired earphones was always the visual downfall of the whole iPod experience as the white chord (which soon became an even more stylish gray) managed to never match anything that you were wearing. Well thankfully, there is now a wireless option to listen to your iPod which brings practicality and style to an MP3 player that is truly worthy.

The guys over at Wi Gear have developed one of the first Bluetooth adapters designed for the iPod nano and video, but they also have adapters for older iPods on the market. Plug an adapter into the base of your iPod and you're set to bust out into dance moves without fear of yanking your headphones out of your ears and you get caught up in headphone wires.

iMuffs mean that there is no chord between you and your beloved pod so no more snagging, untangling and best of all you aren't limed to only carrying your iPod in your hip pocket or around your waistline. You can hear near-CD quality sound up to 10m away, meaning that you can throw your iPod in your backpack or even leave it in your car and still listen to your music.

There are controls on the earphones which are ergonomic and allow you to play, pause, change volume and seek music from your iPod. The iMuffs are versatile enough to also be used with a Bluetooth supported phone. If you have an incoming call, the iMuffs will automatically pause your tunes and direct the call into your headphones, allowing you to hold a conversation using the integrated microphone.

You can also use the iMuffs to listed to music that's on your computer or you can even use them to talk over iChat or Skype. Talk about handy to have!

These versatile headphones are available from Wi Gear.

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
