March 26th in Miami saw Sony Ercisson launch the new T707. The company teamed up with tennis star and style icon, Maria Sharapova.
"The T707 is the next step in the style evolution from Sony Ericsson," said Linda Schori, Global Marketing Business Manager for Style Category, Sony Ericsson. "Maria Sharapova is the perfect partner for us as she exemplifies not only elegance but also substance, just like the T707. It works hard and is also sleek, glamorous and desirable - a truly winning combination!"
The alluring clamshell handset weighs just 95 grams and has a 14.1mm depth. It comes in 3 colours to suit your personality; Mysterious Black, Spring Rose and Lucid Blue.
The petite 2.2inch TFT screen is scratch resistant and has a 262k colour, 240×320 pixel display. Externally, the handset features a tiny 1.1inch scratch resistant OLED screen with a monochromatic, 128x36pixel display.
The T707 is all about style and features changing wallpaper themes that alter from day into the evening. Another cool characteristic is the unique 'light effects'. The phone lights up when you receive a call and you can personalise light settings for each of your contacts.
The handset also has gesture control, so for example if you want to snooze your alarm in the morning, simply wave your hand over the phone! Now that's what I need. No more fiddling around trying to find the snooze option. I inevitably end up turning off the alarm and running late for work!
The T707's other features include:
- A 3.2 megapixel camera with 3.2x digital zoom, photo fix, picture blogging, video blogging, video recording and video light.
- Music player with Mega Bassâ„¢, Album Art, PlayNowâ„¢, TrackIDâ„¢, Bluetooth stereo (A2DP). Popular supported formats include MP3 and AAC.
- Entertainment such as YouTubeâ„¢, 3D and motion gaming, Java, FM radio with RDS, video streaming and video viewing.
- Access NetFrontâ„¢ Web browser with web shortcut search key, web feeds and photo feeds.
- Organiser tools with alarm clock, calculator, calendar, flight mode, notes, stopwatch, tasks and timer and sound recorder.
- Geo-tagging of photos and Google Mapsâ„¢.
- SMS, MMS, Chat View, Email and Exchange ActiveSync®.
Facts and Figures:
- The T707 has a 100MB internal memory and support for a M2â„¢ micro memory card.
- Talktime is up to 10 hours, video call time is up to 2 hours and standby time is up to 400 hours.
- Connectivity includes Bluetooth, modem, synchronisation, USB mass storage and USB support.
"The T707 is my ultimate new accessory," said Maria. "I am always on the go and I need a phone that is easy to use, and of course chic as well! I never miss a call with the eye-catching light effects and personalised pulsation settings and I love the fact that I can just wave my hand to mute a call using the gesture control. I can also use my practical and stylish Bluetoothâ„¢ Headset HBH-PV715 to take my calls, check my emails and blog to my website from the phone. It's great to have a phone that looks good but also lets me keep up-to-date with everything I need."
The T707 is a mid-range handset that's more about style than top of the range features. It will be available in selected markets in Q2.

The alarm clock idea sound brilliant! Although I get the feeling I’d just flail in my phones general direction and keep on sleeping in…
I like the customisable lights option too. If only it had a better camera.
it sounds pretty good that Sony Erickson louche its new beautiful mobile by maria sharopova it is great marketing of this phone and phone feature is very impressive i will buy this phone
The Sony ericsson T707 cannot be recommended and doesn’t last long enough to make it worth the cost. At eleven months old mine cuts out all the time mid conversation and texting and most of the paint has peeled from the front cover. I have seen the same said on user profiles.
I love the fact that flexible OLEDs have a faster response time than LEDs!
