Writing your autobiography. All the famous people are doing it- especially those that only appeared a couple of weeks ago and haven’t had time for you to learn their names never mind care about who they’ve shared a bed with. Don’t you think you should get in on the act?
I’ve been keeping a diary for the past ten years, even since I began High School. All my embarrassing moments are there to see along with some of the best happenings of my life so far. I have a blog too. But neither are really something I want to leave to my children. My Life Story is the answer. It advertises itself as a 100 years diary- plenty of space for your entire existence to be noted down. It includes a host of different sections, including-
– About me, for important facts you discover about yourself
– A world map, to show where you have lived and travelled to
– Education, where you can map out your schools and qualifications
– Awards and achievements, for recording those prizes, medals, and trophies
– Useful and useless skills, for all the qualities you have learnt in life
– Jobs, so people can see places you have worked
– 50 things to do before you die, a list of your own life ambitions
– Homes, for where you lived and who with
– A diagram of the body to show where you broke bones, gained scars, or got inked and pierced
And pretty much anything else you can think of. Use it as a scrap book and stick in everything from photos to receipts to recipes to pictures. Notes you’ve passed in class, love letters or important post its- anything is fair play.
Think you’re too old to be starting one? Then buy it for the newest addition to the family, and the proud parents can fill in first steps and lost teeth and present it to them when they’re old enough to carry it on themselves. A present that grows with them.
