Long live the 80s! The Street Machine Speaker is bringing it back.

street machine speakerRemember walking round in the height of 80s Britain, with a ghetto blaster slung across your neon clad shoulder, your shades bigger than Victoria Beckham’s and your cares few except looking incredibly cool while strutting along to Wham’s latest hit? Actually neither do I. It’s not that I’m not old enough (I was three when the 80s ended I’ll have you know) but I’ve seen enough TV to know it must’ve happened. I mean, TV wouldn’t lie right?

What do we have in the new millennium? Obnoxious people on trains playing crap music through their mobile phones. Don’t you just long to show them what’s what? Well, now you can with the Street Machine Speaker. No more shoulder strain as you heft about a huge chunk of black plastic, and no risk of bursting your eardrums by turning the volume on your MP3 to full to try and cover whatever ‘music’ the guy behind you is somehow appreciating.

street machine speakerIt’s essentially a big speaker on wheels- sort of like those suitcases with the telescopic handles. It can be dragged around behind you, or there’s also a carry handle if you’re not able to roll with it. You can play your music through it in a number of different ways. It has a built in iPod dock, a USB port, and an SD slot so you can attach a variety of different music players or memory sticks and cards. It also boasts a rechargeable battery two 5w speakers and a 20w subwoofer. It has protective bars and protected corners so could survive the underground or a stroll round the shops, and you can have your own theme music all contained in 23cm x 22cm x 45cm frame.

Just don’t get on the same train as me. However cool it may look, I will have to strangle you with your own belt. Unless you’re playing Meat Loaf songs through it, in which case play on my friend. Anything except endless repeats of ‘I Kissed a Girl…’

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
