MWC 2009: Nokia announce their first 8MP camera phone, the N86

smallnok1Nokia finally announce their first 8megapixel camera phone, the N86.

The N86 is a two-way slider handset, in a metal casing, weighing 149grams . Dimensions are 16x51x103mm. The screen is a 2.6inch scratch resistant OLED display with a 240x320pixel resolution and 16million colours.

The quad-band handset runs on the Symbian S60 3rd edition OS with feature pack 2. It features turbo 3G, WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth (A2DP), and USB connectivity.

With Carl Zeiss optics, Tessar lens, auto-focus, auto-exposure and dual LED Flash, the camera offers superb photo quality and MPEG4 video recording capability. A front facing camera makes for video calling or self portraits and the built in GPS allows for geo-tagging of photos.

The handset features built-in stereo speakers, a 3.5mm audio jack and a kick-stand. Other features include those found in previous N-series models; a multimedia player, FM radio, FM transmitter, N-Gage gaming, Nokia Maps, web browser, document viewer, zip manager and email client and organiser.

The 8GB internal memory is more than enough to store hundreds of piccies, videos and photos. If that's not enough, the phone supports microSD cards up to 16GB.

The 1200 mAh BL-5K battery will give you 3.9 hours talk time, 2.5 hours video call time, 25 hours music playback time and 11 days standby time.

Nokia inform that the N96 should be released during Q2 2009 at an estimated retail price of 375EUR (before tax and subsidies).
