Merely two weeks ago, a whole host of rumors hit the net about Samsung apparently bringing the world’s first 12 megapixel (MP) camera phone to the mobile world congress (MWC) later this month. Now though, according to Telecoms Korea, a source familiar with Samsung’s internal marketing plans has said that Samsung will not officially disclose information about the possibility of new leading-edge phones.
This therefore may mean that Samsung will not be unleashing a 12MP camera phone at the MWC….but I don’t think this is necessarily a bad thing, as Samsung have already confirmed that they will be bringing the S8300 Ultra Touch, and this looks great and runs on the Symbian S60 5th Edition. Also this does not mean for a second that Samsung aren’t planning a 12MP handset, maybe they’ve found a flaw in the design and are working on improving that before they officially announce its presence?
Anyway, with or without the worlds first 12MP camera at the MWC with Samsung, the show is still set to be big, and as already mentioned Samsung themselves have announced their S8300 Ultra Touch and their newly designed solar-powered Blue Earth phone….so there is still a lot to look forward to.
The MWC starts on the 16th February, runs through until the 19th and is being held in Barcelona. Be sure to check back to Gaj-It to see the latest news from the event.
