The name Spyker might ring a bell to some people. If so….I know where from….yes, Top Gear!
In 2007 and 2008 Spyker cars were seen on BBC’s Top Gear, but the initial Spyker C8 Spyder performed relatively weak on the programme’s power board where it currently sits at a measly 61st position with a time of 1 minute and 27 seconds. The Dutch company has since been concentrating on other side projects, and one of these is the own-branded set of mobile phones.
Spyker will apparently be attending this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC), ready to present two new handsets. Details about the phones are minute at the moment, but the guys over at AllAboutPhones have pictures.
The first phone called the Spyker EG200 is a very posh looking candybar styled handset with no buttons visible, this most probably means it will feature a touchpad amongst other things. The phone is also set to incorporate a 2MP camera….which seems kind of basic given some of the new phones that have been rumored at the MWC, therefore this may mean the phone “excells” in other areas, but what may this be? The picture here is only a design based picture and the actual handset may vary alot or slightly from this.
The second handset has no rumored name of yet, but looks to be a more entry-level phone than the EG200. And again as with the EG200 this phone will have to have some cool features if it is to compete with the likes of Samsung and Nokia’s entry level phones.Again the picture here is only design-based, so the actual handset released may vary.
Another important thing to note is the price tag, and even though there is no information on this yet, will it be like their cars….pretty pricey with not much whack, or will they have taken on a new route….reasonably priced with distinct features?
All these questions are set to be answered in just a few weeks at the MWC in Barcelona….I for one certainly hope they fair better than their cars did.

Spykers are gorgeous, so if there phone look as good as there cars they should go down a treat.
I still don’t understand who in right mind would pay the prices these guys ask for, its a mobile phone. More money than sense.
These are very sexy phones. I love Spyker’s link between cars and handsets when it’s illegal to drive and talk!
The phones look great don’t they looking at these images! I hope they do’t charge rediculous prices too, hopefully they’ll continue to move up in the phone world!
