While your everyday remote control robot is certainly a cool gadget in its own right, add on a practical feature and all of a sudden you have a device that is so cool, it will send the sun into freezing temperatures. This is exactly what the Rovio Wi-Fi Robot has done.
This ingenious piece of gadgetry streams video and audio through a built-in camera, and can be controlled from anywhere. When I say anywhere, I do mean that you can be sipping mojitos in Hawaii and checking up on what's going at home in London by controlling Rovio around your living room via the internet. You can use any web accessible device such as a mobile phone, gaming console or PC to control it, but for the more traditional of us it does also come with its own remote control.
The Rovio Wi-Fi Robot is a great idea as a security measure when you're away on holiday, but would also come in handy for checking in with the family while you're away from home, checking that fido hasn't gotten himself trapped in the fridge door again or for zooming around the office to check up on staff from the comfort of your office. The neck-mounted camera is adjustable as are its audio settings and different movements.
You can even set predetermined routes for Rovio to navigate to at the click of a button, saving you potential remote control RSI strain. Don't worry if a child or pet or tipsy friend knocks Rovio off its course, it won’t get distracted but will correct itself and continue onwards to its preset route (if only boyfriends were like that).
Unlike your MP3 player, Rovio can charge itself when it senses that its batteries are getting low. It will navigate its own way back to its charging station and accurately dock itself. As far as home security devices go, the Rovio Wi-Fi Robot is an economical investment and will also double up as a cool gadget to pull out at your next party.

The image is encroaching on the text of the article; I can’t read it if this page is improperly formatted.
The page looks fine to me, are you having a problem reading the text? If so do you mind if I email you?
Not only is the design very sleek, the idea of keeping an eye on your house (or terrorizing your pet) from hundreds of miles away is too cool to pass up!
Hey Gaj, great blog and thanks for the heads up on the Rover. I’ll be writing about it tomorrow and linking back to you as a hat tip.
BTW, I think the first commenter (Bio) was referring to the text to the left of the Rover photo being too close to the image’s border. Perhaps adding an hspace=10 in the IMG tag might help?
Anyhoo keep up the good work — you’re a daily read for me!
@Bio, I see what you mean now, fixed it.
@Sion, Thank you very much for the kind words and looking at your site its really cool too. Added you to my feedreader.
Thanks,
Gaj
