iphone3g2With MacRumours’ post on the next generation iPhone, revealed in the latest firmware update for the 3G, Apple-head talk has already turned to a new breed of the mighty phone….the iPhone 2.1.

Now with iPhone 3G only just over 6 months old (July 11th to be precise), it is important to remember that these are only rumors….but this doesn’t matter, because us Gaj-Iteers love this sort of thing.

So what can we expect to see from a new iPhone? Well, most probably newly developed ideas, and improvements on what the 3G is already capable of without the use of Jailbreaking, such as recording videos, the misuse of bluetooth and no Flash or Java capabilities on the internet browsers.

PinchMedia, the company that provides iPhone developers with ad serving and analytic tracking software,  followed up the MacRumours post by saying that they had detected a few dozen distinct “iPhone 2.1” devices, located exclusively in the South San Francisco Bay area, indicating that Apple are in development of a new model or may even have developed pilots of a new model.

What we can be almost certain about is the release date, as Apple have often stuck to an 11 or 12 month time span between releases on most of their product upgrades in the past. Therefore, a new iPhone should be out and about in the shops around June or July time, or somewhere nearby.

I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
