CES: Sony Vaio P Series Lifestyle "The World's Lightest Notebook"

vaio-p-seriesAnother little Sony stunner shown off at this year's CES was the new Sony Vaio P Series Lifestyle Notebook.

It comes in some gorgeous shades; garnet red, emerald green, crystal white and onyx black, "inspired by the crystalline shimmer of natural gemstones". The 8inch XBRITE-ECO backlit display has an extra wide resolution of 1600×760, which displays the entire width of a web page perfectly.

At just 1.4lbs, it's the world's lightest notebook.  And when closed it has a depth of 0.78 inches. All this makes it super portable.

It runs on a 1.33GHz Intel Processor, has 2GB DDR2 SDRAM and either a 60GB HDD or 128GB SSD. It has an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator and Intel High Definition Audio Sound System. Battery life with a standard cell is around 4 hours, but with a high capacity cell, you get double this amount.

You get a choice of Windows Vista Home Basic or Premium operating system and all the benefits of Microsoft Office, music programmes, video programmes and everything else you would expect from Windows.

It also features a built-in Motion Eye webcam and microphone, the perfect companions for instant messaging and keeping in touch.

It comes with WiFi and 3G for surfing the net without any hold-ups and features Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, USB connection, 3.5mm stereo jack, multi media card slot (MMC), SD memory card slot and display/LAN adapter port.

With built-in GPS, search by address, keyword or points of interest and enjoy real-time tracking of your current location, estimated drive times and points of interest within a 50mile radius of your location.

This is one fashionable notebook that's so light and compact it fits into your bag or your pocket with ease. Hmm… when's it my birthday?? Hint hint people!

  • Sony’s market share has slid drastically in recent years. They’ve made some great stuff, but low prices have pushed them into some tough times. These latest ones look pretty good. Hopefully, they can make a comeback.Very innovative designs here.

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
